ENGINE WILL NOT START (CONT).
1.
Fuel is very flammable and can explode easily. To avoid serious injury or death:
Keep fuel away from open flame or any spark (ignition source).
Keep at least a B-C fire extinguisher within easy reach when working with fuel.
Do not work on fuel system when engine is hot; fuel can be ignited by a hot engine.
Post signs that read: "NO SMOKING WITHIN 50 FEET OF VEHICLES" when working with open
fuel or fuel tanks.
Step 6.
Drain fuel (para 3-5) and refill with proper fuel mixture (para 2-8b).
If problem persists notify unit maintenance.

ENGINE FALTERS OR DIES.
Step 1.
Visually check fuel tank for fuel.
Add the proper fuel mixture (para 2-8b).
Step 2.
Check fuel valve to ensure it is open (para 2-9).
Step 3.
Drain fuel (para 3-5) and refill with proper fuel mixture (para 2-8b).
If problem persists notify unit maintenance,

ENGINE STARTS, BUT DOES NOT REACH NORMAL RUNNING SPEED.
NBC-contaminated air filters must be handled and disposed of only by authorized and trained
personnel. The unit commander or senior officer in charge of maintenance personnel must
ensure that prescribed protective clothing (FM 3-4) is used, and prescribed safety measures
and decontamination procedures (FM 3-5) are followed. The local unit SOP is responsible for
final disposal of contaminated air filters. Failure to comply may cause severe injury or death to
personnel.
Check air cleaner element to determine if it is dirty.
