4-19. DIRECTION CONTROL LEVER MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS

Observe all WARNINGS and CAUTIONS
Remove capscrew (17), lockwasher (18), and
lever (19) from end of turning bolt (23)
If further disassembly is required proceed as fol-
Remove v-belt cover (Para. 4-24)
Separate engine base from base plate (Para.
4-40). removing the v-belt from clutch pulley.
Too kit, General Mechanic's
SNAP Ring Plier, item 20, Appx E
Wrench Torque, item 50, Appx E
Solvent, Dry Cleaning : item 9. Appx E
Rag, Wiping: item 8, Appx E

Lockwasher, M6 (1)
1. Remove control cable (1) as follows:
a. Disconnect control cable (1) from control
lever (10) by removing the yoke pin at yoke
b. Disconnect control cable (1) from lever (19)
by removing the yoke pin at yoke end (3).
c. Loosen nuts (5) on the control cable to re-
move control cable (1) from bracket on guide
d. Loosen nuts (5) on the control cable to re-
move control cable (1) from bracket of cable
2. Remove control lever (10), by removing hex
nut (6), capscrew (7), flat washer, (8) and two
bevel washers (9).
3. Remove button plugs (11) from ends of control
4. Remove hex nut (12), lockwasher (13), capscrew
(14), flat washer (15), and eccentric ring (16)
from guide bar.
Lift assembled engine and engine base from
base plate (Para 4-40).
Remove two capscrews (20,), lockwashers
(21) and cable holder (22).
Pull turning bolt (23) out of control housing
(38), a slight twisting motion may be required.
Remove spacer (24) seal ring (25). and tow
preformed packings (26). Discard the seal
ring and preformed packings.
Remove pin (27) only if replacement is neces-
Remove three flat screws (28) and
countersunk lockwashers (29), that secure.
