Install the selected shims (16, 17, and 18) for the
adjustable shaft (42) against the bearing cup in-
stalled in the cover (27) Reinstall the new gas-
ket (15) and bearing cover (12) and secure with
countersunk lockwashers (11) and flat head
screws (10) Torque screws to 17 ft-lbs (23 Nm)
with torque wrench fitted with 6 mm hex key
driver.
Install the selected shims (16, 17, and 18) for the
fixed shaft (49) against the bearing cup instalIed
in the housing (50) Reinstall the new gasket (15)
and bearing cover (12) and secure with counter
sunk lockwashers (11) and flat head screws (10)
Torque screws to 17 ft-lbs (23 Nm) with torque.
wrench fitted with 6 mm hex key driver.
Install new seal ring (14) in bearing cover (13),
flush with outside surface of the cover.
Install new gasket (15) and carefully install the
bearing cover (13) with seal ring (14) over project-
ing end of shaft (49) and seat in cover (22). Se
cure with four countersunk lockwashers (11) and
flat head screws (10). Torque screws to 17 ft-lbs
(33 Nm) with torque wrench fitted with 6 mm hex
key driver.
17. install key (9) in key slot of projecting end of
shaft (49) and install pulley (8) on shaft engaging
the key (9).
18. Secure pulley (8) with retaining washer (7), coun-
tersunk washer (6) and flat head screw (5).
Tighten screw securely.
19. V-belt guard (4) need not be installed at this time,
if vibrator is to be immediately installed on a com-
pactor
NOTE
Follow-on tasks include: Install vibrator as-
sembly (Para. 4-13). Install control housing
(Para 4-19), direction cable and control
(Para 4-19), and service the vibrator as-
sembly (Para 4-13).
