ings (25, 26, and 43), in preparation for ad-
justing the end play of the vibrator shafts.
a. lnstall new gaskets (15) and bearing covers
(12 and 13), securing with countersunk lock-
washers (11) and flat head screws (10)
7. Using the flat bottom of housing (50) as a refer-
ence, install the adjustable shaft (42) assembly
into the left bore, seating cone and rollers of bear-
ing (26) into the bearing cup installed in the hous-
ing. Rotate the spur gear (34) so that the timing
mark on coupling disk (33) is pointing directly to
the right.
Torgue the capscrews to 17 ft-lbs (23 Nm)
with torque wrench fitted with a 6 mm hex key
driver.
8. Install the fixed shaft (49) assembly into the re-
maining bore of housing (50), seating cone and
rollers of bearing (43) with bearing cup installed
in the housing. Ensure that the timing mark on
spur gear (45) aligns directly with mark on cou-
pling disk (33) when teeth of spur gears (34
and 45) are engaged.
b. lnstall control housing with a new gasket on
remaining opening of housing (50) and se-
cure with three socket head capscrews and
lockwashers as shown below Torque cap-
screws to 17 ft-lbs (23 Nm) with torque
wrench fitted with a 6 mm hex key driver.
9. Install new gasket (23) on edge of housing (50).
10. Install cover (22) over ends of shafts (42 and 49),
carefully seating bearings (25 and 43) in cups in-
stalled in cover.
c.
Remove the control housing and bearing cov-

11. Position guard (21) over the two top holes of
cover (22) and secure the guard (21) and cover
(22) to housing (50) with nine socket head cap-
screws (19) and lockwashers (20). Torque the
capscrews to 22 ft-lbs (30 Nm) with torque
wrench fitted with an 8 mm hex key driver.
d. Rotate the shaft (49) while shifting both
shafts (42 and 49) toward the cover (22),
seating bearings and measure the depth of
the end of the shafts from the flanges of hous-
ing (50) with a depth gage. Record this meas-
urement for each shaft.
e. Again rotate the shaft (49) while shifting both
shafts (42 and 49) toward the housing (50),
seating bearings and measure the depth of
the end of the shafts from the same flanges
used in step d., above. Record this measure-
ment for each shaft.
12. Adjust end play of the shafts (42 and 49) as fol-
lows:
N O T E
Steps a. and b., below are temporary in-
stallations of these covers and control
housing to seat the bearing cups of bear-
f. Select shims (16, 17 and 18) in such a combi-
