the pin and end of turning bolt do not enter area
of the cross bore.
NOTE
Washers (33 and 35) are very similar, both
have chamfers on one side of the inner
bore. Washer (33) has a deep chamfer
compared to a slight chamfer on
washer (35).
6.
Install washer (35) with the chamfered side lead-
ing into the control housing (38) and seat fully
onto shaft extending into the control housing.
7.
Install the shift sleeve (34) so the short shoulder
is leading and the notch along the side is facing
toward the pin (27). Insert the sleeve slowly while
pushing the turning bolt (23) in to engage first the
pin with the groove around the sleeve and then
the shoulder of turning bolt with notch of sleeve,
8.
When shift sleeve (34) is fully seated the tip of
the shaft should appear to be flush with the bot-
tom of the counterbore in the sleeve. Secure the
sleeve with washer (33) and flat head screw (32).
Tighten screw securely.
9.
Install spacer (24) on turning bolt (23).
10. Install cable holder (22), securing with two socket
head capscrews (20) and lockwashers (21).
Tighten screws securely
11. Install lever (19), seating in notch on end of turn-
ing bolt (23) with lever extending to the right. Se-

washer facing the control lever.

bevel washers (9). Tighten the capscrew just

ers, providing some drag on the control lever
when moved. Secure this tension adjustment by
installing hex nut (6) on capscrew and tightening
against the weld nut inside guide bar.
NOTE
New control cables are set to 38.70 +0.04
in. (983 +1 mm) length center to center of
the yoke pins. Do not change this length. If
yokes have become loose, check this
length and tighten jam nuts to secure.
14. Install the control cable (1), noting that the end
with the single flat washer is mounted at the ca-
ble holder (22) and the end with two flat washers
is mounted at the guide bar. Remove the yoke
pins at yokes (2) and (3) and attach yoke ends to
lever (19) and control lever (10). Secure with
yoke pins and clips provided with cable assembly.
15. Install the control cable (1) to the slot in cable
holder (22), with the two adjusting nuts (5) and
the single flat washer on top of the cable holder.
Tighten the lower nut (5) until the control cable is
firmly attached to the cable holder (22). Tighten
the upper nut (5) against the lower nut to lock this
installation.
16. Install the control cable (1) to the slotted bracket
on side of guide bar, securing by placing one flat
washer and nut (4) on each side of the slotted
bracket. Tighten nuts finger tight at this time.
17. Install eccentric ring (16) to the guide bar with the
thick side away from the control lever (10), secur-
