yoke pins of the control cable IS as de-
scribed in the assembly procedures.
a.
Manually set the lever (19) to the down (re-
verse) position.
b.
Shift the control lever (10) fully forward to the
FORWARD travel position and check to see
that the lever (19) in now in the raised posi-
tion
c.
Cycle the control lever to observe the overall
travel of the control lever. The overall travel
arch of the control lever may be shifted closer
to the operator or away from the operator by
adjusting the position of the nuts (4) on the
control cable. Set nuts (4) to provide comfort-
able travel of the control lever (10). Tighten
nuts (4) securely.
d.
Manually shift lever (19) to the down position,
Loosen capscrew (14) enough to rotate the
eccentric ring (16) counterclockwise until con-
tact is made with the control lever (10). Se-
cure eccentric ring in this position by
tightening capscrew (14) and hex nut (12) se-
curely.
2.
Adjust for wear in mechanism:
a.
If vibrator is not shifting into reverse, loosen
the capscrew (14) and rotate eccentric clock-

wise away from control lever (10). Manually
shift lever (19) to the down position and then
rotate the eccentric ring (16) counterclock-
wise until contact is made with the control
lever (10). Secure eccentric ring in this posi-
tion by tightening capscrew (14) and hex
nut (12) securely.
b.
If vibrator is not shifting into forward, and all
parts have been install as described, the con-
trol cable (1) is defective and should be re-
placed.
NOTE
If vibrator is not shifting into forward, re-
move cover (30). Check to see that
screw (32) and washer (33) are securely
seated. If necessary tighten screw. If there
is evidence that head of screw (32) or
sleeve (34) is striking the cover (30), add a
second gasket (31). Reinstall the
cover (30).
Start engine (Para. 2-5) and check vibrator opera-
tion with control lever (10) shifted in the FOR-
WARD direction and then the REVERSE
direction.
NOTE
Follow-on tasks include: Return compactor
to service.
