4-14. OIL FILTER MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
This task includes:

Rag, Wiping; item 8, Appx E
Oil, Lubricating; item 6, Appx E
Equipment Condition
Compactor set on level ground in protected area.
Engine off.
Oil Drained.
1.
Use rag to grasp the oil filter (1) and unthread
from fitting (2) on front side of engine. Turn oil fil-
ter counterclockwise to remove.
2.
Discard used oil filter in accordance with local pol-
icy.
3.
Inspect fitting (2) for stripped threads
4.
Remove fitting (2) and replace if damaged in any
way.
5.
Coat gasket of new oil filter with a small amount
of oil.
6.
Threading clockwise, thread oil filter onto fitting
on front side of engine. Snug up the oil filter by
hand only enough to prevent leakage.
7.
After servicing the engine oil and installing a new
oil filter, observe filter for signs of oil leakage.
