General Safety Instructions
Observe all WARNINGS and CAUTIONS
1.
If v-belt cover has not been removed, remove the
cover as follows:
a.
Remove four capscrews (1), lockwashers (2),
and flat washers (3).
b.
Remove the v-belt cover (4) from engine
crankcase.
2.
Inspect v-belt for wear, cracks or deterioration.
3.
If v-belt appears in good condition, check tension
by deflecting the v-belt at point indicated. V-belt
is at proper tension if the amount of deflection is
approximately 3/8 in. (10 mm). If belt tension is
greater or less than 3/8 in. (10 mm), adjust ten-
sion.
4.
If v-belt is defective replace the v-belt.
1.
Adjust v-belt tension by loosening the hex nuts,
and turning the eccentrics. Turning the larger off-
set of the eccentric toward the stop bar welded to
the engine base, will increase tension on the v-
belt. Turning the large offset away from stop bar
will decrease tension.
2.
When tension has been adjusted to achieve ap-
proximately 3/8 in. (10 mm), secure adjustment
by tightening the hex nuts securely.
