4-24. V-BELT COVER MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTlONS

Equipment Condition
Compactor set on level ground in protected area.
Engine off
1.
Remove four capscrews (1), lockwashers (2) and
flat washers (3).
2.
Remove v-belt cover (4) from engine crankcase.
W A R N I N G
P-D-680, Type Ill, is moderately toxic to
the skin, eyes and respiratory tract;
avoid prolonged exposure. Skin and
eye protection is required. Good ventila-
tion is required. Do not use near open
flame or excessive heat. Flash point is
200° F (93.3° C).
Clean all parts in dry cleaning solvent and dry
thoroughly.

Inspect v-belt cover (4) for cracks or other dam-
age.
2.
Inspect capscrews (1) for damaged threads.
3.
Replace any damaged or missing parts.
NOTE
If a replacement v-belt cover (4) is being in-
stalled, install new warning decal and
transfer the identification plate (Para. 4-17).
1.
Install v-belt cover (4) on engine crankcase, align-
ing mounting holes.
2.
Secure with four capscrews (1), lockwashers (2)
and flat washers (3). Tighten capscrews securely.
NOTE
Follow-on tasks include: Return compactor
to service.
