P-D-680, Type III, is moderately toxic to
the skin, eyes and respiratory tract;
avoid prolonged exposure. Skin and
eye protection is required. Good ventila-
tion is required. Do not use near open
flame or excessive heat. Flash point is
200 degrees F (93.3 degrees C).

Clean all parts in dry cleaning solvent and dry
thoroughly.

Ensure that all gasket (8) material is removed
from face of support (4) and cylinder head flange.

Inspect threads on studs (9), hex nuts (1 and 5),
and stud of muffler shield (3), for stripped condi-
tion.

inspect support (4) for bent condition or other
signs of damage.

Replace any part found to be defective.

If studs (9) were removed, install the studs in the
cylinder head, and tighten securely.
Install two gaskets (8) and support (4) on studs
and against exhaust outlet of cylinder head.
Install third gasket (8) on studs (9) and against
the support (4).
Install muffler (7) on studs (9).
Install muffler shield (3), engaging stud to support
(4) and the studs (9) extending through the muf-
fler (7).
Install two flat washers (6) and hex nuts (5) to se-
cure muffler shield (3) to muffler (7). Tighten se-
curely.
Install lockwasher (2) and hex nut (1) to secure
top of muffler shield to support (4). Tighten se-
curely.
NOTE
Follow-on tasks include: Return Compac-
tor to service.
