5-18. OIL PUMP MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS

Lockwasher, M6 (3)
1. Remove the gear cover (Para. 5-14).
2. Remove capscrew (1), two capscrews (2), lock-
washers (3) and remove oil pump (4) and gas-
ket (5) from the engine housing. Discard the
gasket.
NOTE
The oil pump (4) will separate into two
parts, do not misplace the thin cover plate.
CLEANING
WARNING
P-D-680, Type III is moderately toxic to
the skin. eyes and respiratory tract;
avoid prolonged exposure. Skin and
eye protection is required. Good ventila-
tion is required. Do not use near open
flame or excessive heat. Flash point is
200°F (93.3°C).
Equipment Condition
Compactor set on level ground in a protected area.
Engine off.
Oil drained.
General Safety Instructions
Observe all WARNINGS and CAUTIONS

Ensure that all gasket material is removed from
face of pump (4) and from mounting surface of
the engine housing.
3. Clean other parts in dry cleaning solvent and dry
thoroughly.
1. Clean the exterior of pump (4) with a rag damp-
ened with dry solvent and thoroughly.
