Equipment Condition
Engine set on level ground in protected area.
Engine off.
Fuel tank and attaching hardware removed.
Air cleaner removed.
Muffler removed
General Safety Instructions
Observe all WARNINGS and CAUTIONS
NOTE
The air shields provide for directing the air
flow from the flywheel fan to cool the cylin-
der and the cylinder head. Remove the air
shields only for access to replace the cylin-
der and to replace damaged or badly
clogged air shield.
1.
Remove four spacers (1) and housing shield (2).
2.
Remove filister head screw (3), lockwasher (4)
and air shield (5).
3.
Remove plastic rivets (6) and air intake screens
(7). Discard the plastic rivets.
W A R N I N G
P-D-680, Type III, Is moderately toxic to
the skin, eyes and respiratory tract;
avoid prolonged exposure. Skin and
eye protection is required. Good ventila-
tion Is required. Do not use near open
flame or excessive heat. Flash point Is
200° F (93.3° C).

Clean all parts in dry cleaning solvent and dry
thoroughly.

Inspect shields (2, 5 and 7) for cracks, bent condi-
tion or other damage that would not allow good
air flow.
2.
Inspect threaded fasteners for stripped threads or
other damage.
3.
Replace any part found to be defective in any
way.

If removed, install the two air intake shields (7),
securing each shield with two plastic rivets (6).
2.
If removed, install the air shield (5) to the top of
crankcase, and secure with filister head screw (3)
and lockwasher (4). Tighten screw securely.
3.
Install the housing shield (2) and four spacers (1).
NOTE

fuel tank (Para. 4-56), Install the muffler
(Para. 4-31).
