4-39. VIBRATION RUBBER MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
This task includes:

Equipment Condition
Compactor set on level ground in protected area.
V-belt removed.
General Safety Instructions
Observe all WARNINGS and CAUTIONS
1.
If not already removed, remove the v-belt (Para.
4-25).
2.
Disconnect the direction control cable (Para. 4-
19).
3.
Remove four hex nuts (1), lockwashers (2), and
eccentrics (3).
C A U T I O N
The engine with engine base and at-
tached guide bar weigh approximately
250 pounds, select hoist with adequate
lifting capacity.
4.
Attach a suitable hoist to lift point on protection
frame and lift the engine and engine base from
the base plate and set aside on blocking.
NOTE
Block unit so guide bar locking latch on
rear of engine base does not rest on floor.
5.
Remove the four inner hex nuts (1), lockwash-
ers (2), and rubber buffers (4) from the base
plate (5).
6.
Install new rubber buffers (4) on base plate (5),
securing with lockwashers (2) and hex nuts (1).
Tighten hex nuts securely.
7.
Attach a suitable hoist to lifting point on protec-
tion frame and lift the engine and engine base
from the blocking and position over the base
plate, engaging the studs of the rubber buffers
with slots in engine base.
8.
Install eccentrics (3), lockwashers (2) and hex
nuts (1) onto studs of rubber buffers (4). Tighten
finger tight.
9.
Install and tension the v-belt (Para. 4-25).
10. Connect the direction control cable (Para. 4-19).

cover (Para. 4-24).
