5-3. ENGINE ASSEMBLY MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
This task includes:

Compactor set on level ground in protected area.
General Safety Instructions
Observe all WARNINGS and CAUTIONS
REPLACE
1.
Remove protection frame (Para. 4-23).
2.
Remove v-belt cover (Para. 4-24).
3.
Remove v-belt (Para. 4-25).
4.
Remove the clutch assembly (Para. 4-26).
5.
Disconnect the throttle control cable (Para. 4-18)
6.
Remove four capscrews (1), lockwashers (2), flat
washers (3) and two mounting plates (4).
7.
Attach a suitable hoist to the lift bracket on en-
gine and lift engine assembly (5) from the engine
base.
N O T E
Engine weighs approximately 90 pounds.

Using hoist install replacement engine assem-
bly (5) on engine base and align mounting holes
with slots in engine base.

Secure engine with four capscrews (1), lockwash-
ers (2). flat washers (3) and two mounting
plates (4). Tighten the capscrews finger tight.
Install the clutch assembly (Para. 4-26), and
tighten capscrews (1) to 31-35 ft-lbs (43 - 48
Nm) torque.
Install v-belt (Para. 4-25).
Install v-belt cover (Para. 4-24).
Connect the throttle control cable to the engine
speed control lever and adjust control
(Para. 4-18).
Install the protection frame (Para. 4-23)
NOTE
Follow-on tasks include: Return unit to
service.
